POMPANO BEACH, FL, USA – “Until now, knitting and crocheting has been seen as a matronly activity. Suddenly using this macramé type street art form instead of paint or chalk is attracting people of all ages who want to express themselves in new ways proving that colorful displays can be created using knit and crochet cloth.”said artist Dahlia Baker.
Baker created a piece of outdoor art to illustrate the effectiveness of fiber art. She crocheted a cover of shells and palm trees which turned a plain white pole into something interesting to see. Located in front of the CRA Business Resource Center at 50 NE First St.in Pompano Beach, Florida, Baker hopes her sampling will excite other volunteers to get involved.
