The City of Pompano Beach NW Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) is bringing back the MLK Marketplace event series for a 2nd season, but this year the event will be rebranded and focus on exposing the Arts to young children and families. Beginning October 12th 2013 and continuing on 2nd Saturdays through May 2014, families will gather in Annie Adderly Gillis Park from 4-8pm for a festival or the Arts which will include interactive art projects, live music, performing arts projects and local artists.
The event aims to incubate the Arts along the MLK Corridor in Pompano Beach, which will be the Mainstreet of the emerging Downtown & Creative Arts District in the City. This month the event begins with a parade entrance by a local Junkanoo band that will perform throughout the evening along with performances by the Delvin King School of the Arts, and will be hosted by DJ Sweetback. Emerging entrepreneurs, talented performers and delicious food options will line the park along with interactive art projects for kids and adults of all ages. All event attendees will have the opportunity to be part of the event naming and vote on their favorite name and logo design.
